There is a bug in that article on line number :   

protected void LinkButton1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
  LinkButton lb = (LinkButton)sender;
  GridViewRow gvRow = (GridViewRow)lb.NamingContainer;
  int rowID = gvRow.RowIndex+ 1;

It should be like this :

protected void LinkButton1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
LinkButton lb = (LinkButton)sender;
GridViewRow gvRow = (GridViewRow)lb.NamingContainer;
int rowID = gvRow.RowIndex;

Because if you create three rows and delete the second one then according to your code it will delete the third row, whereas in my coding it will delete the selected row only.
