Saving variable value across PostBack in ASP.Net

I have nearly sorted out my concurrency issue, but need to save a timestamp byte[] array between page post backs in asp.net webforms and thought having a global variable in a class would work, but it does not, can somebody give me the exact code to make it work please, thanks ?
