Show notification icon with count like facebook in ASP.Net

Hello people,

Please how can I display notification with icon on a Web page, whenever there is an activity on the page or database, BASED ON THE USER.

For example, if Ralph is logged in and someone who is linked to Ralph had posted two contents or comments into the database, there should be a notification icon showing Ralph that he has two notifications.

I will be glad if I get a simple way of doing this. Thank you
